Update Show 7

Been a while, eh? Wondered what happened to me? Well, here’s some insight. Fast show, new big huge show coming as the big second coming (third coming? meh) of your favorite monotone host.

Here’s a hint of what to expect on the returning show, if you don’t feel like listening.

File Size: 2.11 MB
Run Time: 4:35

New shows will be upcoming!

Sorry for the lack of shows as of late. My iBook is quite dead, now.

I’m saving up to get a new iMac, and should hopefully have it by early March. By then I should have plenty to talk about.

Until then, you can follow me on Twitter at my Twitter page for the time being. Once shows are coming out again, you can use it to see when I am recording; as I will be using it to let people when I am recording, editing and uploading.

So,see you goys soon!

BlizzCon show upcoming

So, Kat is at BlizzCon. She mentioned recording to me when she found out that she got the job as co-host for the DirecTV PPV airing.

I talked to her tonight after she got back to… well, I guess her hotel, I doubt she is commuting from San Fran to Anaheim… and we are going to record on Sunday.

Well, I should say, she is going to record, I’ll just be talking. My computer died on me a few weeks back– and with it my ability to record from Skype and, well, that editing and other stuff that needs to be done when doing podcasts. So, she’ll record and I guess edit, and I’ll upload and host the file. I’ll just use this borrowed laptop to talk, because I am a lazy son of a bitch.

We also had a little discussion in this thread on the WoW forums while we were talking on AIM. Yes, we’re that geeky. I suppose I should read up on my shit before Sunday, or I’ll have an angry Kat after me. And then she will withhold my Pally in a Bubble gift thingie from BlizzCon.

And we can’t have that. I need my Pally in a Bubble.

Her possibly maiming or killing me if I don’t read up on the events is an afterthought to not getting my Pally in a Bubble. I can live with the maiming and killing… wait… well, you know what I mean.

So, here is the schedule for the weekend:

Sleep, since I haven’t yet.
Possibly get some shit done around the house.
Go to a friend’s and play Rock Band until the wee hours or my hands fall off, whichever comes first.
Sleep.
Read up on BlizzCon, and get in touch with Kat when she washes the hairspray and TV makeup off.
Record.
Hopefully get the final copy by Monday.
Upload for Tuesday release.

Let’s see how well the best laid plans of mice and Sam hold up…

Ok, this shit was funny…

Gotta love The Onion…

‘Warcraft’ Sequel Lets Gamers Play A Character Playing ‘Warcraft’

Episode 23: Special Guest Kat Hunter

So, after a long delay, Episode 23 is up! Special guest Kat Hunter, general manager of the San Fransisco OPTX team of the Championship Gaming Series, former Frag Doll and all around fun person joins me for this cast. Kat and I recorded this show and the next show in June, but we both got really busy right afterwards… so you know how it goes.

Yes, Kat will also be on the next show. She recorded the audio for that one and should hopefully have the time to edit it soon.

We discuss a bunch of stuff that is out of date by now, so deal with it. Still, we had good conversations and I hope you will enjoy it.

You can visit Kat at the following sites:

Sorry for the delay…

I’ve been working a lot since Kat and I recorded our first show together.  In fact, we recorded a second one the following week, but she has the audio for that one… Unfortunately, Kat has been mad busy with the CGS World Championships (her team made it into the final), so she hasn’t had a whole lot of time to edit what she has, either.

I think that I should have some time, soon, and so should she.   So, hopefully, we’ll bang out the editing on both shows very soon. Just keep your RSS reader ready.

New cast recorded…

Special Guest Kat Hunter and I recorded over this past week.  I had a bunch of shit to get done this weekend, so I didn’t get to edit it.  I should hopefully editand have it up by mid-week.

So nice to have a mouse that works, again… UTGR website up

So, my old and faithful partner here with me and my laptop decided it was time to kick the bucket. I got my money’s worth out of that mouse, though. I’ve had it for over four years, it’s been to three E3s, it’s traveled with me when I took my laptop anywhere. It had a good run.

So now I have a full sized mouse. It has an extra button that serves no purpose on my Mac, though, since it is a Microsoft mouse and the button only works on Windows to the best of my knowledge. But, it has a tilting scroll wheel, and it uses smooth scrolling on the scroll wheel, instead of the clicking scroll wheels, which I like. All too often I’d think I’d have scrolled down enough on the old mouse, just to have the page start jumping until I made sure.

The only thing that bugs me is I really have to press down on the wheel to get it to act as a middle click. But that will be easy enough to get around.

In other news, Uncle Thursday Game Reveiws is up and running in its initial stages. The basic layout of the pages is set, and now it comes down to tweaking more than any major design. No video reviews, yet. Remember, it isn’t launching until at least after September. But, you can check out the basic design, sign up for its forums if you wish, and let me know what you think of it so far.

Ok, off to bed, I have work tomorrow.

So…

It turns out that designing the future website for Uncle Thursday Game Reviews is going to be a lot harder than I was hoping.

There are reasons for this.

1. I have not worked with HTML in any semi-seriousness since at least 1998, and since then the standards of HTML have changed, greatly. And I never really tried XHTML.

2. Even when I was working with HTML, I never was doing it in any real seriousness, just fucking around with basic web sites that wouldn’t even be considered a newbie web designer’s type of site. Since I want to add a few interesting things into the site, this sort of illiteracy in web design is seriously going to hurt me.

3. I have to learn how to work with php. This website is easy, since I am using a Word Press setting. But, UTGR will not be that simple.

Pray for me, or pray I get a lot of money to hire someone else to do this shit for me to try and make my late 2008 early 2009 launch window.

The website is now set up.

The site is up and running.

The RSS feed to iTunes and all of the other ways you guys get the podcast is also updated, so there are no new settings you need to do on your end.

The Podcast Pickle player on the right will be replacing the flash player in each post. This should hopefully help with load times, as well. To scroll through the episodes, simple mouse up or down over the list of episodes. It does seem to be having problems with episode 22 and update 6, right now, but that should hopefully fix itself soon.

At this time I am not going to be placing direct download links into the posts. If the demand is there, however, I will. But you should be able to download the episodes from your RSS feed reader.

Update Show 6

Episode 22-Patch Show 6 (2.4)

So, here it is… Patch Show 6.

I was specifically told by a fan to “man up” and get it done, so, here it is.

There is a guest host this time, Josh Fletcher, AKA Kyo Kenshin on my forums. We actually had to record this twice, though, as the first file he tried recording on his end just up and disappeared somehow. This time I recorded on my end. The quality should be about the same, as the programs we used to record are similar in function, just his is for Windows, mine is for OS X. The original was 3.5 hours long, this one is 2 hours and six minutes long… so 5+ hours of recording! YAY!

The overall audio quality, however, might be a little lower than I normally like, as I accidentally transferred the original uncompressed files to 64 kbps MP3 for editing, instead of my normal 192 kbps MP3s for editing. We’ll have to see. But, I just spent a good chunk of time editing this… and I’m not editing it all over again. Deal with it. Also, for some reason, there was some slight popping during the last segment we recorded, and I don’t know why. Also, this puts all the audio to one track, which means we may talk over each other at times. Not much we can do about that without each of us recording separate tracks… but editing that shit is a pain, trust me.

No Teldrassil music in the beginning, it’s long enough. It just starts right up. LET THE EAR BLEEDING COMMENCE!

Actually, I’m typing this as it is exporting… because I am dumb. So I have another 26 minutes of letting Blogger stare me in the face while it exports. Me am smart. Of course, by the time you read this, the audio will be up for download.

Man, I love FiOS.. I just uploaded the 58 MB file in under 2 minutes. <3 Of course, my host makes it 60.9 MB…

Of course, then I screw up the HTML and people couldn’t download the damn podcast for the past 6 hours…

DAMN IT! I just discovered why my voice sounded like I was using a different mic… I WAS USING A DIFFERENT MIC! GOD DAMMIT! My Skype was set to use my iSight, not my damn headset. I have no idea why this was… grrrrrrrrrrrr

Apologies for the audio quality being a bit lower than the last few shows. My normal mic has a short in it, so had to use an older mic.

This episode is all about the changes upcoming in patch 2.3, lots of items to discuss. Had to rerecord the entire show after a program crash, though, so some parts may sound rushed as I had already recorded them once and was a wee bit pissed.

Patch Show 4!

Talk of changes with Patch 2.1.0, 2.1.1, and 2.2.2. I do make one mistake (that I heard) calling the engineering goggles enchanting goggles at first. Dunno why, I guess I’m just dumb at times. I meant to say something about 2.2, but never got to it. I’ll do a show about those changes later this week or next week. It’s a good change that is upcoming, and I want to see how it works out.

Episode 15-BC Show (WoWCast/WoP)

Part 2 of 2? Where’s part one? Head on over to WoWCast for part one.

Alachia and I discuss a whole mess of topics, then go drool over the new Arena PvP sets and weapons before discussing some more topics.

This is a long episode, so it starts right up. No intro music or anything, the damn thing is almost 2 hours already, you don’t need any extra time before the meat of the cast.

We both apologize for the slight technical difficulties that happened on the recording of these shows. We recorded on a single computer through Skype, and there were network problems that messed up our recording. Unfortunately, it seemed to happen at the most inopportune times, like at the punch line of jokes. Next time we’ll bite the bullet and just record separate audio files, even though it takes a lot longer to edit.

Episode 14-Raid and Dungeon 1

Two shows in one week? UNPOSSIBLE!

This is a new type of show, the Raid and Dungeon show. Raid and Dungeon shows will focus on the small group or raid instances found within WoW, offering tips and strategies for getting through the instances.

The first show focuses on Zul’Gurub, and is a highly in-depth look at the trash, and the bosses of Zul’Gurub, and how to defeat them. I hope this overview of ZG will help people just starting in ZG, planning on starting in ZG soon, or working their way through ZG in making progress within the first 20 man raid instance released for WoW.

These shows will be released periodically, and I will focus on a different instance each time.
